Change Comes From Within

So I think we all sit in the hairdresser’s chair and expect  a miracle.

We go in with a picture in our mind of who we want to walk out of that salon as … and we expect our stylist to make our hair match our dreams.

You know what I mean right?

You crop out a pic of Jennifer Aniston and tell your stylist you want her colour….but deep down I think sometimes what we really want is her calm and cool demeanour, her good looks, amazing figure, her lifestyle and her pay check.

We feel our hair can change the person we are….and hence why so many people change their hair style and colour like they change their underwear…. maybe they are just bold, or maybe they are searching for something.

I’m boring….I don’t change much, maybe a shade lighter or darker, but never daring. Matches my personality.

There is nothing better than sitting in that chair, being pampered and fluffed for a couple hours…with the constant hum of blow dryers and chatter calming our minds and making us feel relaxed.

After months of not getting my hair done due to quarantine my stylist took her time and made me feel like a million bucks.  I walked out of there feeling lighter and happier about everything.

Whoever says that beauty comes from within is lying.  Sure internal beauty makes someone more appealing, but when we look good outside we feel better inside… am I right?

Amazing what a haircut and some pampering can do.

No matter what anyone says I do feel that our outer shell affects our inner shell, 100%.

When we look in the mirror and are satisfied with what we see we feel confident and happy ….if we look in the mirror and see grey roots, an extra ten pounds and eye brows that need some care we feel defeated… and not just about our looks, but about everything.

Who we see in the mirror affects how we feel inside.  There is no cure for that… sure a hair cut and style make us feel better, but you have to push for what makes you happy. It’s internal and I have no secret ingredient for it.

My nana told me at a very young age…. never leave home without lipstick….it’s amazing how a simple stroke of colour can bring out your best feature which is your smile!

I know times are tough, but a little pampering really does help with your perspective…. whether it’s colour in a box, (I know my hairdresser will cringe at that one), or giving yourself a manicure, or throwing your unwashed hair up in a messy bun with a dab of lipstick….it really does wonders…. so when all else feels heavy, take care of you!

Cause who you see in the mirror is who you project….and who you project to the world could just be the person to change the world!

Look good, feel good.

On our ‘Joy Journey’ this week I challenge you to take five extra minutes to stare at yourself in the mirror.  Really look long and hard… you will first note all of the things that you hate… we are always our worst critics… as you start to notice things about your outer shell that you don’t like… jot them down… like frown lines, extra pounds, a big nose… go ahead… be as mean to yourself as you can be.  Now walk away and leave that list infront of the mirror… next time you have five more minutes come back to that list and look at it again… take the first point you don’t like about yourself… say frown lines… then change your mindset to think, yeah frown lines are from that time I was yelling at my daughter for spilling her milk… then think about that moment… how you literally got so upset over spilled milk, how your daughter hugged you after and you made up… now look back in the mirror and smile at that flaw cause it was achieved by a life well lived and well loved… cheesey… maybe… time consuming for sure… but if you can’t appreciate everything little thing about your body that changes every single day… how will anyone else ever appreciate it?  So take the time… it might take a week to get through it, but change those flaws to memories and flip that mindset.

We’ve got this!
